THE DISNEY BOOK TAG

I love Disney so much. They’re like the guardian of my childhood, my fairy godmother. Okay, that was too far. Well,  I’ve just finished reading The Isle of The Lost by Melissa De La Cruz a couple days ago and I found this Disney Book Tag, which I think was really awesome. This tag was originally created by Katytastic for the release of this book and I also added some additional categories created by XtineMAY below.

Let’s get started!

1. The Little Mermaid—A character who is out their element, a “fish out of water”.
Liam, Maddy, and Sal from Timeriders series by Alex Scarrow fit this category perfectly. They have been dragged from the past to be the secret agents/guardians of world history. It was so out of their element since no one was guiding them and explaining everything (except for Foster, whom I wasn’t really sure he was really that helpful).

2. Cinderella—A character who goes through a major transformation.
Of course, this has to be Tris from Divergent series by Veronica Roth. We all know how she started as this quite little girl from Abnegation to the one saving the world.

3. Snow White—A book with an eclectic cast of characters.
I chose And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie because I personally think a Crime/Mystery book really need a certain diversity to each character so the reader could also solve the mystery (or in this case the murderer) by being suspicious to the characters with their own traits. That’s why I think the characters inside this book fit the category.

4. Sleeping Beauty—A book that put you to sleep.
Red Rising by Dan Brown. Okay, I know I know. Let me explain. I’ve heard so many great things about this book except for its writing style. I did try to read this book thrice (Gosh! Maybe I was having quite a slump back there) but it was just so hard to get through the words and I ended up having a nap. I do really want to finish it though, but I’m waiting for the perfect timing so that it won’t be the forth time I put this one down (fingers crossed!).

5. The Lion King—A character who had something traumatic happen to them in childhood.
Most of YA books have a certain kind of backstory about their character’s childhood experience. But I think Adelina Amouteru (The Young Elites by Marie Lu) really had the most traumatic than all of the other hero/heroine—I have read. She was being isolated from the people around her merely because she had a strange markings. Even her own father didn’t treat her like a child. She was a broken and dark heroine.

6. Beauty and The Beast—A beast of a book (a big book) that you were intimidated by, but found the story to be beautiful.
I was quite intimidated when I saw Heir of Fire (Sarah J. Maas)—I know this wasn’t really that big—but they were totally worth it.

7. Aladdin—A character who gets their wish granted, for better or for worse.
Yup! Aza Ray Boyle from Magonia (Maria Dahvana Headley) did have her wish granted. She has been free to breath normally without having to do all those medication routine only to find out that she . . . just go read the book.

8. Mulan—A character who pretends to be something or someone they are not.
Celaena Sardothien from The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. She is the biggest trickster! She even have so many names on herself. Gosh! I love this series.

9. Toy Story—A book with characters you wish would come to life.
Doraemon by Fujiko F. Fujio. What? Sorry guys my inner childhood imagination is dominating right now. When he do come to life, I’m sorry—not really actually—but I WILL NOT going to share whatever comes out of his pocket. PERIOD. Wait. Is this supposed to be “characters” like in plural? Okay, Then I will send the other characters out to you, but not Doraemon and his pocket. PERIOD FOR REAL.

10. Disney Descendants—Your favorite villain or morally ambiguous character.
I feel like I’m a bit cheating right now but it still count as a book so please just let me be. For this one I choose Regina/Evil Queen from Reawakened by Odette Beane a.k.a. the book version of the TV Series Once Upon A Time. I was quite confused between her and Rumpelstiltskin since they both did an annoyingly good job as the villain, but in the end Regina is my favorite. I just loved her character so much (both in the book and TV series).

11. Hercules—A book that inspired you and make you a stronger human.
Crooked House by Agatha Christie. I know this was probably a bit odd, but this was one of the book that really made me fall in love in to reading. So I guess this book is somewhat inspiring to me. Most of dystopian book also inspired me in someway to be grateful in the world I’m living right now.

12. Up—A book that you have no idea what the title and the cover was about, but you love it after reading it.
Size 12 is Not Fat by Meg Cabot. I didn’t have any idea what this book was about until I read the synopsis. Well, I did think that this book would be about girls obsessively trying to be skinny but literally this book is about an unprofessional detective solving a crime.

13. Frozen—A pair of book sibling that you absolutely love.
I loved how City of Savages (Lee Kelly) described Phee and Sky’s relationship. They weren’t all perfectly-loving-each-other sisters. They did have the time when they argue and jealous about each other since they were practically really different, but in the end they still had each other’s back and it was really sweet.
